Intelligent Camera

Many lives are lost as a result of landslides and subsequent problems such as
flooding. This is an acute problem in mountainous countries such as Japan. We are working on an
intelligent camera which can constantly monitor a hillside which has been identified as a potential
landslide site. Using artificial intelligence the system can detect motions and distinguish between
other movements on the hillside (leaves waving in the wind, animals running across the hillside,
etc.) and the actual landslide. With this monitoring and recognition of a dangerous situation people
can be warned quickly and lives potentially saved.
